Don't sell your audience, talk to them

This week on The Marketing Factor, I got to talk with Robyn Nissim, Fractional VP of Social Media + Influencer Marketing at Social Proof.

Hey everyone, Austin Dandridge here. No podcast this week, but figured I’d share a little story and insights of a client that seems to be working.

This week on The Marketing Factor, I got to talk with Robyn Nissim, Fractional VP of Social Media + Influencer Marketing at Social Proof.

We covered a lot of ground in this episode:

  • The evolution of social media marketing

  • Crafting effective influencer partnerships

  • Measuring success beyond likes and shares

  • Balancing trendy content with brand identity

  • Adapting strategies for different social platforms

Robyn's been doing this for more than a decade, opening social channels for huge brands like Michelin and Nissan before social media was even monetized. At Ulta Beauty, she built their influencer program from scratch and turned it into a million-dollar operation in just 6 months. She was also Head of Social for Anastasia Beverly Hills and Alo Yoga, where she drove social that accounted for 5% of business revenue. Not bad!

Robyn sees social media as one big networking event. Rather than approaching socials as sales channels – she reframes them as places to connect with your people. Our conversation revolved around this idea that success on social media comes from knowing your audience and being yourself, not chasing followers or trying to go viral.

If you're looking to build social strategies that connect with your audiences, you'll want to hear this one.
